After what feels like forever; my first mixtape is now available!

– click picture to listen on soundcloud –

I want to give a special thanks to my friend, Tawny for her incredible help with the photography for the main visual and to my fiancé and mentor, Anthony for helping guide me through this process and giving much needed insight. Also, thanks to everyone on social media, my friends, and my family for their never ending support. All of you contributed to this and I hope I did you proud.

This mixtape isn’t meant to be a hype tape or an incredible show of skill; but rather something that embodies me and my personality. I love to have those chill vibes with a hint of Sailor Moon and space. I hope that you will find yourself relaxing while listening.

What’s in My Bag: Overnight Edition

Hello everyone! Long time, no see!!! I hope you all don’t mind but today I am sharing with you all how I pack my overnight bags since Anthony and I recently had an overnight trip to New York/New Jersey. A simple and fun post since I am getting back into the swing of things here!

Well, this is the bag and everything I shall be using for our trip! The bag was a lovely gift from my coworker, Stephanie and it is the perfect size for a simple overnight stay. It comes with a cute and matching cosmetic bag that I will be using as well!

PicMonkey Collage

Of course, I’m going to need some clothes for the next day. Granted, depending on the amount of room in my bag…I may be wearing the same pair of pants just to have a little extra room for merchandise and goodies. I will be bringing an extra t-shirt and your typical under garments. I’m sticking with a simple Pusheen t-shirt and the what not.

When it comes to toiletries and skin care products I try to keep everything small with sample packs. For this trip I used TheFaceShop Calming Seed Trio Sample Pack that I received a while back. It already comes in a small box and I can just throw it in my bag. For shampoo and conditioner, I had none. I didn’t plan on washing my hair the next day since I am still trying to grow it out.

Since we will be on the train for a total of 6 hours all together, I am definitely going to need some sort of entertainment. I may be bringing my handy, dandy, oh-so cherished Nintendo 3DS XL with me. And playing all sorts of games from Super Smash Bros to Pokemon Y. I will also be listening to all the Vocaloid music I possibly can on my iPhone.

Well that is it for today’s post! Since we are back from Miku Expo in New York, you can definitely expect a photo journal post tomorrow and the haul on Monday. I do apologize for the lack of posts these weeks, but it’s the same excuse as always: work, school, work, school. I am trying though! Anyways, I would love to hear your thoughts on today’s post! Feel free to comment down below on whether you found this post helpful or if there are any items you’d take in your overnight! If you would like to suggest topics for future posts, please click the “Contact” button above and fill out the form!

As always, thank you all for reading and continuing to read even during these busy months for me! I hope you all have a fantastic week/weekend and just for giggles…

Oily Skin Take Down!

Hey Hey & Howdy!
I am back this week with a beauty post, but before that…Miku Expo! Did you all enjoy the expectation posts? We are so excited that we are thinking about having t-shirts made with the new STR Mascot image on it!! When we make the final design we will be sure to share it with you all! Anyways…I would catch you up on life but it is still work and school! Only difference is I’m starting to play Pokémon with the intent of catching a shiny Pokémon and playing the Looker Side-quest. (Insert obnoxious sigh here.)

oily skin

So, as you all may know; I have ridiculously oily skin that requires a rather large amount of care. I have a feeling some of you are looking for ways and products to help maintain oily skin. I have found a skin regimen that has been working for me for the latter part of summer! I’ll show you all of the products I use both day and night.

For morning I tend to keep it relatively simple with two to three products. For cleansing I use TheFaceShop Charcoal Cleanser I showed you all in a previous post. Because this cleanser doesn’t do much in terms of exfoliating I use my Sasatinnie Exfoliator that I purchased from Sasa.Com! After rinsing I go ahead with a quick splash of super cold water and continue to pat dry with a clean towel.

Once my face is dried I use my TheFaceShop Calming Seed Calming Mist Toner. I’ll be the first to admit that I had no idea toners could be so helpful, but holy hand grenade they are! Moving on, I apply my TheFaceShop Calming Seed Skin-resting Cream as a moisturizer and that pretty much concludes my morning routine.

I will say that if my face seems especially oily or my skin appears shiny, I will do a quick spray of TheFaceShop Herb Water Powder Mist which has a powdered finish and makes the skin appear more matte.

At night, I spend a bit more time on my skin regimen. I begin with my St. Ives Green Tea Cleanser. Speaking of which, I swear by it as it is hypoallergenic and has kept my skin looking its best for years now. After about a minute of massaging the cleanser into my skin, I’ll rinse with relatively warm water and apply the same toner as listed above.

This next step is entirely optional but I have found it incredibly necessary as of late. After applying the toner and allowing my face to dry I will use my TheFaceShop Lovely ME:EX Magic Pink Powder Mask and leave it on all night. It has calamine in it which is actually quite nice and calming for my trouble skin and has helped with my cystic acne if I accidentally (or purposefully) intake dairy. I highly suggest this mask if you’re looking for a way to calm a breakout or have persistent redness.

If I decide not to use the mask I will let my skin rest after applying the toner and head straight to bed!

Well that is it for today’s post! I hope you all enjoyed this post and found it helpful or beneficial in some way or other. I’d love to hear what you all thought of today’s post; if you have any products or own any of the products listed, please comment down below on your thoughts and suggestions! If you’d like to suggest topics and ideas for future posts, please click the “contact” button above! I hope you all enjoy your week and to all you students out there…WELCOME BACK. It sucks, I know. Anyways…

REMEMBER: Fall is right around the corner…as is Super Smash Bros. 3DS.

Recent Purchase: Cookbook & Miku Chan!?

Hello There!
How have you all been?! I am definitely starting to realize what life in the adult world is like… Working full-time is so frustrating and exhausting and not to mention being a full-time student. I am trying to find time to do everything that needs to be done, but posting once a week will have to do until I am able to come up with some sort of schedule.

Moving on, OH EM GEE. Have you all seen the first installment of Simply Taylor Rae’s newest YouTube series: The STR Crew Reacts To…!? Last week, it was Sailor Moon Crystal Act One. We will be filming Act Two sometime this week so you should look forward to that, but just in case…you can view the video HERE.

titleAnyways, I feel like I haven’t done a recent purchase post in what feels like a rather long time. I mean, I’ve bought stuff here and there, but never seemed to take any pictures until the other day! So, here are a few things that I have purchased within the last month or so!

the cookbook

Remember when I did Awkward Chef posts!? Yeah, those are coming back with the help of this really adorable cook book. This is “Yum-Yum Bento Box: Fresh Recipes for Adorable Lunches” and I honestly had no intention of buying this book, but I thought “Why the heck not?” and purchased it for $11.17 on Amazon (HERE). I can’t wait to make pink rice and add faces to sandwiches that will at one point be in stomach, digesting. Yum-Yum indeed.

In case you haven’t noticed, I am on a nostalgia kick! I don’t know how this happened, but I suddenly want to buy everything that reminds me of when I was little. Quick question: Is this what they call a quarter-life crisis? I had already purchased the first three not too long ago and I wanted to finish another manga series so I found “CardCaptor Sakura Omnibus #4” on Amazon for $17.07 (HERE) and I am so happy to have the complete collection now! What shall be my next venture?

skin care

Well, when you see any products from TheFaceShop on my blog…you already know where I went. Surprisingly enough, I did not buy as much this time!! Lately, my face has been producing enough oil to run my car for the next 3000 miles or so and I am in need of water and anything to keep my face properly hydrated! I ended up purchasing the Lovely ME:EX Magic Pink Powder Mask which was about $8 I believe. The adorable packaging and the calamine are what suckered me into buying it. I also purchased the Herb Water Powder Mist to replace my TonyMoly facial mist. This was about $11 or so, and it leaves a slight shimmer when used which I like since…well, everyone likes sparkles. Thankfully, every time I make a purchase I get the cutest samples and this time I was given a mini Green Tea Toner & Lotion Kit and a Core Seed Purifying Essence!

miku chan

Finally, we have the two items that I have been so excited to get my hands on! Yes, these are the new Hatsune Miku POP Funko Figures and they run about $12.90 each. Honestly, it took me a bit longer to find the Hot Topic Exclusive release…I had asked my local Hot Topic like three times if they had gotten it in and they told me no each time. I had checked online and couldn’t find it and I felt a wee bit heartbroken. So, I sucked it up and bought the regular edition on Amazon (HERE). I’ll admit, I still loved it but I just had to have the HT Exclusive edition. So on my way home from Annandale, I decided to do one last check at a Hot Topic way up north from home and BY GOD THEY HAD IT. Talk about #Winning.

Well, there you have it. I promise the next recent purchase will be much better and hopefully much more…full? Anyways, let me know what you all think of today’s post in the comments down below! I am excited to hear what you all have to think and while you’re at it; if you have any suggestions for future posts or videos on the STR YT Channel, go ahead and click on that contact button above!

As always, I hope you all enjoy your week and take good care of yourselves! I’m going to be working, but hopefully it won’t be too bad…ugh.

REMEMBER: MikuExpo in NYC is officially three months away! Will you be there? :O

Summer Fashion Favorites of 2014

Hello Everyone!
Sorry for the lack of posts this week! I seem to have hit a bit of a writer’s block and I am trying desperately to get out of it, I promise. I thought this week would be a good week to kind of show you all what my current fashion favorites are and hopefully inspire you to dress how you wanna and what not. So, let’s begin? Yeah.

summer fashions faves 2

This summer is mostly about comfort, honestly. I’m starting to find my own personal style and the items featured in today’s post are all that I’d consider a close fit for my own wardrobe! As always, there will be links to all of the items listed and I hope they bring you much inspiration.

modcloth top

Since it’s Summer, I’m always looking for cute lightweight tops. This rad top is from ModCloth and it’s mother freakin’ adorable. This top is specifically called “A Bot to Love Top” and it’s only $35, so not too bad. Ultimately, this is the style I look for when it comes to Summer tops: flowing, adorable print, and definitely fit for a geeky girl!

hot topic pants

Next up is a bit more on the comfortable side. If you don’t know, Pokémon is one of my favorite all-time games and these Pokemon Trainer Pants from Hot Topic are pretty fantastic to me. For only $16, these are pretty appealing and I would wear them ALL THE TIME. Especially while playing Pokémon games. This may not scream Summer, but I’m digging them so I’ll probably buy them soon.

modcloth bag

I am beginning to notice I have a slight purse addiction lately. Crap. Oh well, because this bag is ridiculous in a good way. Say hello to ModCloth’s Sweet Sentiments Bag. I love brown bags and I feel that they are great for every season and every reason. I love the look of this bag and for $35, not a bad deal either.

kitsch island earrings

For accessories, I try to keep them toned down now that I have long hair. These are a perfect fit as they are delicate, small, and gorgeous. These are kitsch island Shooting Star Earrings available on YesStyle and are actually quite reasonably priced at $11! I can actually see myself wearing these for my Bridal Shower and what not. Also…I love stars.

tuk creepers

Last, but not least: Hello Kitty Creepers by t.u.k. from Journeys. Need I say more? Yeah, maybe I should. I have featured creepers in past posts and although I feel that they are great for Autumn…I’m loving them for Summer. Especially with the pastels and Hello Kitty print, where could one go wrong? Well, depending on how much you’re willing to spend…these go for a pretty $90. Whoops.

Well that is it for today! I hope you all enjoyed today’s post…I just realized that this is my first fashion post in a while. YAY!! Anyways, if you thought today’s post was great, go ahead and like it or comment down below with what you thought or if you have any Summer Fashion Favorites. If you have any suggestions or ideas for future posts, please hit the contact button above! I love to hear from you all!!! Have a great weekend everyone, be safe, and…

My Summer Beauty Products

Hello everyone!
Uh oh. You guys…I made a hefty purchase. I AM GOING TO BE AT THE HATSUNE MIKU EXPO IN NEW YORK! Yes I purchased VIP tickets which put a huge dent in my wallet but this is something I’ve been dying to go to for 2+ years and it’s finally a 5+ hour drive away. Please don’t judge me. So yes, I will be in NYC on October 18th! Best believe I’m taking loads of pictures for you all!
Moving on…it’s been a while since I’ve done a beauty post featuring products I actually use. So, today I’m showing you all of the products I’m using for the dreaded hot season.
Summer Beauty ProductsNow, recently my face has been breaking out more than usual and my t-zone is producing much more oil as well. So the products I’m showing you all are perfect for those of you with oily or even combination skin.
day and night faceThese items are my day and night cleansing products: TheFaceShop Charcoal Phyto Powder in Cleansing Foam and TheFaceShop Green Tea Cleansing Wipes. Now, I will admit that these products haven’t exactly treated the oily skin issue I’m having but it has settled down my acne quite a bit. With the Charcoal cleanser I tend to use my exfoliator every other day since the consistency is a bit thick. The wipes are nice to use since I feel so tired around the time I get to bed. They smell sweet but not overpowering and they are gentle and comfy on my face.
purse essentialsI am just now noticing that 99% of the items in this post were purchased at TheFaceShop. THAT’S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN ONE OPENS UP SO CLOSE. Anyways, I don’t carry much in my purse but I do have two products that are ALWAYS with me: TheFaceShop Green Tea Hand Gel Cream and TheFaceShop Oil Blotting Paper. I told you all that my face has been incredibly oily lately, so I have to now carry oil blotting paper everywhere I go to make sure my face doesn’t look too shiny and they do just that; I swear by oil blotting paper. The hand gel is actually nice as it moisturizes my hands but doesn’t leave them feeling…slippery? It smells pretty too, which is a plus.
randomThese products I do use, but not on a regular basis as I would the ones above but they are still being used. So there’s the TONYMOLY Pocket Bunny Moist Mist and TheFaceShop Black Head Aloe Nose Strips. I use the moist mist on days that are extremely hot and humid as it helps me cool down and it has a nice scent. The nose strips I use more often and they do a good job for ripping out black heads from my nose. I tend to use these products when I’m at home and just trying to relax and fix my face though, I would definitely suggest these nose strips especially because they are quite nice and reasonably priced.

Well, there you have it. All the products that I have been and am currently using for the stupid Virginia heat. I hope you all found this post rather informative and helpful! I’d love to hear what you all think. Feel free to leave comments down below and to suggest future post ideas, click on the contact button above! As always, I hope you all have a fantastic week, don’t party too hard, and for future reference…
