2015 Fashion Inspiration

Long time, no see!

Oh my goodness it has been too freakin’ long. In case you haven’t been on any of the Simply Taylor Rae social media accounts…I’ve been experiencing a few health issues caused by an infection in my chest. I’m doing a lot better, but it’s been extremely difficult to get things done while feeling less than 100%.

BUT I’M BACK. ꉂ ೭(˵¯̴͒ꇴ¯̴͒˵)౨” With a picture heavy post.

Today’s post is a reflection of the direction my personal fashion is heading. (You see what I did there with that rhyming right!?) It’s mainly a mix of simplicity, vintage, and a bit of Mori and Dolly Kei! I’ve noticed that I’m either geared towards a simple and comfortable look…or a pattern-heavy mix of everything. There is no in-between.
Let’s just get straight to the pictures…

And there you have it ladies and gents!!! Who knows where my fashion sense is headed! Honestly, I think I’m just focused on having fun with it all. As should all of you, because what is the point of wearing anything if in it you’re not having any fun? I hope you all enjoyed this post! Have an awesome week and as always…

PS: We have a Sailor Moon post & a Foodie review coming up in the next week. Huehuehue.

Oily Skin Take Down!

Hey Hey & Howdy!
I am back this week with a beauty post, but before that…Miku Expo! Did you all enjoy the expectation posts? We are so excited that we are thinking about having t-shirts made with the new STR Mascot image on it!! When we make the final design we will be sure to share it with you all! Anyways…I would catch you up on life but it is still work and school! Only difference is I’m starting to play Pokémon with the intent of catching a shiny Pokémon and playing the Looker Side-quest. (Insert obnoxious sigh here.)

oily skin

So, as you all may know; I have ridiculously oily skin that requires a rather large amount of care. I have a feeling some of you are looking for ways and products to help maintain oily skin. I have found a skin regimen that has been working for me for the latter part of summer! I’ll show you all of the products I use both day and night.

For morning I tend to keep it relatively simple with two to three products. For cleansing I use TheFaceShop Charcoal Cleanser I showed you all in a previous post. Because this cleanser doesn’t do much in terms of exfoliating I use my Sasatinnie Exfoliator that I purchased from Sasa.Com! After rinsing I go ahead with a quick splash of super cold water and continue to pat dry with a clean towel.

Once my face is dried I use my TheFaceShop Calming Seed Calming Mist Toner. I’ll be the first to admit that I had no idea toners could be so helpful, but holy hand grenade they are! Moving on, I apply my TheFaceShop Calming Seed Skin-resting Cream as a moisturizer and that pretty much concludes my morning routine.

I will say that if my face seems especially oily or my skin appears shiny, I will do a quick spray of TheFaceShop Herb Water Powder Mist which has a powdered finish and makes the skin appear more matte.

At night, I spend a bit more time on my skin regimen. I begin with my St. Ives Green Tea Cleanser. Speaking of which, I swear by it as it is hypoallergenic and has kept my skin looking its best for years now. After about a minute of massaging the cleanser into my skin, I’ll rinse with relatively warm water and apply the same toner as listed above.

This next step is entirely optional but I have found it incredibly necessary as of late. After applying the toner and allowing my face to dry I will use my TheFaceShop Lovely ME:EX Magic Pink Powder Mask and leave it on all night. It has calamine in it which is actually quite nice and calming for my trouble skin and has helped with my cystic acne if I accidentally (or purposefully) intake dairy. I highly suggest this mask if you’re looking for a way to calm a breakout or have persistent redness.

If I decide not to use the mask I will let my skin rest after applying the toner and head straight to bed!

Well that is it for today’s post! I hope you all enjoyed this post and found it helpful or beneficial in some way or other. I’d love to hear what you all thought of today’s post; if you have any products or own any of the products listed, please comment down below on your thoughts and suggestions! If you’d like to suggest topics and ideas for future posts, please click the “contact” button above! I hope you all enjoy your week and to all you students out there…WELCOME BACK. It sucks, I know. Anyways…

Summer Fashion Favorites of 2014

Hello Everyone!
Sorry for the lack of posts this week! I seem to have hit a bit of a writer’s block and I am trying desperately to get out of it, I promise. I thought this week would be a good week to kind of show you all what my current fashion favorites are and hopefully inspire you to dress how you wanna and what not. So, let’s begin? Yeah.

summer fashions faves 2

This summer is mostly about comfort, honestly. I’m starting to find my own personal style and the items featured in today’s post are all that I’d consider a close fit for my own wardrobe! As always, there will be links to all of the items listed and I hope they bring you much inspiration.

modcloth top

Since it’s Summer, I’m always looking for cute lightweight tops. This rad top is from ModCloth and it’s mother freakin’ adorable. This top is specifically called “A Bot to Love Top” and it’s only $35, so not too bad. Ultimately, this is the style I look for when it comes to Summer tops: flowing, adorable print, and definitely fit for a geeky girl!

hot topic pants

Next up is a bit more on the comfortable side. If you don’t know, Pokémon is one of my favorite all-time games and these Pokemon Trainer Pants from Hot Topic are pretty fantastic to me. For only $16, these are pretty appealing and I would wear them ALL THE TIME. Especially while playing Pokémon games. This may not scream Summer, but I’m digging them so I’ll probably buy them soon.

modcloth bag

I am beginning to notice I have a slight purse addiction lately. Crap. Oh well, because this bag is ridiculous in a good way. Say hello to ModCloth’s Sweet Sentiments Bag. I love brown bags and I feel that they are great for every season and every reason. I love the look of this bag and for $35, not a bad deal either.

kitsch island earrings

For accessories, I try to keep them toned down now that I have long hair. These are a perfect fit as they are delicate, small, and gorgeous. These are kitsch island Shooting Star Earrings available on YesStyle and are actually quite reasonably priced at $11! I can actually see myself wearing these for my Bridal Shower and what not. Also…I love stars.

tuk creepers

Last, but not least: Hello Kitty Creepers by t.u.k. from Journeys. Need I say more? Yeah, maybe I should. I have featured creepers in past posts and although I feel that they are great for Autumn…I’m loving them for Summer. Especially with the pastels and Hello Kitty print, where could one go wrong? Well, depending on how much you’re willing to spend…these go for a pretty $90. Whoops.

Well that is it for today! I hope you all enjoyed today’s post…I just realized that this is my first fashion post in a while. YAY!! Anyways, if you thought today’s post was great, go ahead and like it or comment down below with what you thought or if you have any Summer Fashion Favorites. If you have any suggestions or ideas for future posts, please hit the contact button above! I love to hear from you all!!! Have a great weekend everyone, be safe, and…

Thanks again everyone and take care!

The Geeky: An Interview with Kara & Lindsay of Rooster Teeth

Oh my gosh, for some reason, I have been feeling slightly lazy and I’m not too sure why. It’s been a pretty productive week though, I must say! Anyways, I hinted to you all in the last post that I had more Rooster Teeth features coming up and GUESS WHAT. I do. This time, I interviewed two amazing and lovely ladies of the RT & AH crew; Kara and Lindsay!
kara and lindsayHere is some background on Kara and Lindsay:

Kara Eberle is the voice actress for Weiss in “RWBY”, as well as the Office Manager, podcast set designer, and receptionist at Rooster Teeth.

Lindsay Jones is the voice actress for Ruby in “RWBY”. She is an employee at Rooster Teeth. She is known for appearing in the RT Recap, Rooster Teeth Podcast and the Internet Box Podcast.

Taylor Rae: When did you begin working for RT & AH and why?

Kara & Lindsay: Well honestly, we don’t remember. God, it’s been so long that we’ve worked here. But, we tell you what, it’s been a blast working with such goofy characters, but awesome people.

Taylor Rae: What is the most entertaining aspect of working for RT & AH that keeps you motivated?

Lindsay: Well, as you know; Me and Michael “Rage Quit” Jones are married! Just [being] able to work with my man and having a good time with my co-workers and family keeps me going.

Kara: What she said, except the getting married part, haha. But just being able to work with great people and get this far. We also love our fans [and] reading their reactions of the things we do. It keeps me motivated to know what we do, people love it!

Taylor Rae: As female gamers; is there anything in the gaming industry or gaming community that you wish to change or maybe even encourage?

Kara: A video game with more female character leads! Now that could be a change. I know there are some female character roles that every knows of such as Lara Croft, Samus, and others…but it seems not many! What the hell.

Lindsay: Ditto to Kara.

Taylor Rae: There’s a lot happening over at Rooster Teeth it seems. Can you give us a few events that you are looking forward to and want to share with the readers? Also, what can you tell us about the upcoming Rooster Teeth film, “Lazer Team?”

Lindsay: There is so much going on at RT & AH. God, where to begin. We are so busy here…but honestly check out our upcoming movie “Lazer Team.” But really, I can’t tell you jack squat! Haha, sorry. It’s under hush hush.

ruby and weiss

Taylor Rae: With Volume 2 of “RWBY” coming up at RTX, what is it like voice acting and working on an animated feature?

Geoff (He answered this as well): Well, me bring Grif is fun as hell. Then [watching] on screen is awesome to see the character I play. I’m glad I really don’t get my ass kicked like that in real life.

Kara & Lindsay: Well, we both agree with Geoff. So much fun and awesome. To voice characters and then feel like we are those characters! Pure badasses! It sounds weird when we do recording, but when we see what we sound like in a character, oh my god. We sound awesome. It works so well and matches the characters just as well.

Taylor Rae: What is it about yourselves that you would like readers and fans to know about you that they probably don’t?

Kara: God, I mean [there’s] basically not much to say due to [the fact] everyone basically knowing who we are anyways. I mean, I hate being scared! F*cking sucks, I’m a receptionist. Well and Gus’s little sister (according to him), hehe. I’m the voice of Weiss in “RWBY.” I guess, yeah!

Lindsay: I mean, if no one knew: I’m the main editor of AH videos [and the] voice of Ruby Rose in our show “RWBY”. I don’t know what else to say I mean. Like [Kara] said, a lot of people basically know us well…creepy.

Taylor Rae: Are there any games you are excited to be released this year? If so, why?

Kara: God, so many choices. Though I like playing games…I just have no clue! Well, there is the Shadows of Mordor game and the new Halo!

Lindsay: So many! I say mostly any game that looks amazing honestly. We are all gamers here, as long as [the game] provides a challenge.

From Lindsay & Kara to Our Readers: Well, this is the girls from RT & AH. Much love to our fans and friends and family! Check out our site and our shows on YouTube. And we do have a shout out to Chris for being an awesome dork! And to Taylor Rae! Since she has a great site, everyone needs to keep checking out her stuff and she’s awesome!! Hope to see you guys soon.

thanks kara and lindsay

My Summer Beauty Products

Hello everyone!
Uh oh. You guys…I made a hefty purchase. I AM GOING TO BE AT THE HATSUNE MIKU EXPO IN NEW YORK! Yes I purchased VIP tickets which put a huge dent in my wallet but this is something I’ve been dying to go to for 2+ years and it’s finally a 5+ hour drive away. Please don’t judge me. So yes, I will be in NYC on October 18th! Best believe I’m taking loads of pictures for you all!
Moving on…it’s been a while since I’ve done a beauty post featuring products I actually use. So, today I’m showing you all of the products I’m using for the dreaded hot season.
Summer Beauty ProductsNow, recently my face has been breaking out more than usual and my t-zone is producing much more oil as well. So the products I’m showing you all are perfect for those of you with oily or even combination skin.
day and night faceThese items are my day and night cleansing products: TheFaceShop Charcoal Phyto Powder in Cleansing Foam and TheFaceShop Green Tea Cleansing Wipes. Now, I will admit that these products haven’t exactly treated the oily skin issue I’m having but it has settled down my acne quite a bit. With the Charcoal cleanser I tend to use my exfoliator every other day since the consistency is a bit thick. The wipes are nice to use since I feel so tired around the time I get to bed. They smell sweet but not overpowering and they are gentle and comfy on my face.
purse essentialsI am just now noticing that 99% of the items in this post were purchased at TheFaceShop. THAT’S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN ONE OPENS UP SO CLOSE. Anyways, I don’t carry much in my purse but I do have two products that are ALWAYS with me: TheFaceShop Green Tea Hand Gel Cream and TheFaceShop Oil Blotting Paper. I told you all that my face has been incredibly oily lately, so I have to now carry oil blotting paper everywhere I go to make sure my face doesn’t look too shiny and they do just that; I swear by oil blotting paper. The hand gel is actually nice as it moisturizes my hands but doesn’t leave them feeling…slippery? It smells pretty too, which is a plus.
randomThese products I do use, but not on a regular basis as I would the ones above but they are still being used. So there’s the TONYMOLY Pocket Bunny Moist Mist and TheFaceShop Black Head Aloe Nose Strips. I use the moist mist on days that are extremely hot and humid as it helps me cool down and it has a nice scent. The nose strips I use more often and they do a good job for ripping out black heads from my nose. I tend to use these products when I’m at home and just trying to relax and fix my face though, I would definitely suggest these nose strips especially because they are quite nice and reasonably priced.

Well, there you have it. All the products that I have been and am currently using for the stupid Virginia heat. I hope you all found this post rather informative and helpful! I’d love to hear what you all think. Feel free to leave comments down below and to suggest future post ideas, click on the contact button above! As always, I hope you all have a fantastic week, don’t party too hard, and for future reference…

PSST! There’s going to be more Rooster Teeth features on here. Just so you know. K, bye.

The Geeky: An Interview with Geoff Ramsey of Rooster Teeth

Hello to you all!
Yes, in case you can’t read the title or didn’t read my last post…I have been in talks with Geoff Ramsey (and Griffon…and Gavin) from Rooster Teeth and Achievement Hunters and although we have a lot of ideas floating around, I don’t want to spill too many details until everything is set in stone. But, I am so thankful that Geoff gave me the opportunity to interview him for you all! They have been so much help when it comes to promoting and even helping me figure out how to use my YT channel efficiently. So, before I share the interview with you all…I have a few shout outs:

Many many many many thanks to Geoff and Griffon Ramsey and their adorable daughter, Millie. You all have been so encouraging and awesome to talk to and I hope we get a chance to meet real soon so I can thank you in person…and possibly play video games with you. T’would be awesome, yeah?

To my coworker, Chris: THANK YOU. For answering all my questions, for helping Geoff and I talk when we are working, and for all the help you’ve been when it came to questions about technical stuff that I am clueless about. The team at Rooster Teeth love you btw. Just saying…

To the entire team of Rooster Teeth and Achievement Hunters…Geoff had mentioned you all throughout our emails and you all sound so awesome! I hope this interview does each and every one of you justice because the work you’ve done is beyond amazing. Thanks for being so awesome.

Geoff Ramsey is one of the original members of Rooster Teeth and is also the Executive Producer of the Achievement Hunter series. He also provides the voice of “Grif” in the Red vs Blue series.

Taylor Rae: How would you describe Rooster Teeth and Achievement Hunters to those visiting or hearing about it for the first time?

Geoff Ramsey: People were laughing and busting guts and that’s what we aim for, to provide entertainment and comedy. Those who visit [the Rooster Teeth headquarters] get to see how we work and where we work. Their expressions is that jaw-dropping.

Taylor Rae: When was RT and AH created and how did you build it to what it is today?

Geoff Ramsey: We started on April 1, 2003. We were just five guys playing Halo Combat Evolved and from there we figured we should do a show called “Red versus Blue”. Honestly so much fun, we didn’t have what we have now. So basic recordings and old schooled it. [Because] we got so many views and likes and subscribers, we just kept going.

Taylor Rae: You had mentioned RT’s involvement in charity work; Can you give us a few examples of what you’ve done so far?

Geoff Ramsey: Well [we did] charity to help local fire fighters, and so many others. I honestly don’t run that; someone else does.

Taylor Rae: Any future events, plans for expansion, collaborations, or appearances you’d like us to know about?

Geoff Ramsey: Honestly, we’ve gotten far; We had a 10 year anniversary not long ago and a 100th episode on Minecraft and so much. We have a big office in Austin, Texas and we’ve done so much to achieve what we have now. We are quite successful and so many people who follow us and loyal to the end. This sh*t is happening. And appearances: We have a thing called RTX and we do a lot of signings, Q&A and other stuff..I forget. Bare with me..haha.

Taylor Rae: Were there any points in the history of RT or AH where you felt that success was unattainable? If so, how did you overcome it?

Geoff Ramsey: Damn, there were times we started to think “how are we gonna do this? Is it gonna work?” Man I tell you..there been moments where sh*t seem to fall apart and we didn’t know if it was gonna work. But the more we believe in ourselves and the more we pushed our goals, f*ck we did it!

Taylor Rae: Where do you see RT and AH within five years?

Geoff Ramsey: Five years from now? The same place as I am now, duh! Playing video games for a living is pretty much it. And just f*cking having fun with my workers (friends and morons) and keeping the fans happy and enjoying our stuff.

Taylor Rae: What are you E3 plans for this year and what games are you looking forward to hearing about?

Geoff Ramsey: Sh*t, no clue. I don’t do the planning for that crazy stuff, but I will tell you…I’m pretty happy with Titanfall and now playing Watch-Dogs. God, so many games I’m looking forward too I about to sh*t my pants!

Taylor Rae: Finally, what is your favorite game and why?

Geoff Ramsey: Favorite game [is] Halo…and some others. And why? It was a great game when it first came out on Xbox…sh*t was fun as hell and crazy. And now it led us here to Rooster Teeth.

From Geoff to Our Readers: Well, that’s what I got. We had so many fun years and still going. You tell everyone to keep following us and happy gaming. And thanks for all that support.

thanks for reading

Well, there you have it everyone! Once again, a huge thank you to Geoff, Griffon, and Chris and the entire RT & AH team! I wish many more years of success and awesome and PLEASE UPLOAD ANOTHER PROP HUNT VIDEO OR SMASH BROS WHEN IT RELEASES. *Please.

Wedding Hair & Makeup Trial with Highlife Makeup

Hello Hello!
I am so excited for tomorrow! My parents are finally coming back from their trip and I have missed them so so much. Not to mention, the dogs are going crazy without them! But I am cooking a bit more since I was on my own for a little while. I’m not the best cook, but my food is decent! Anyways, today I had my wedding hair and makeup trial with Tawny of Highlife Makeup! I’ve known Tawny for about 4 years now and I was so happy to have her help me with my wedding makeup and hair trial. She gave me lots of tips and advice when it came to my wedding since she got married a year ago, so I hope when she reads this she knows how much I appreciate her and how much I enjoyed today!
makeup trialSo, we met up earlier today with one thing in mind: Keep It Simple. Because I don’t wear makeup, I wanted to keep my wedding day makeup as minimal yet noticeable as possible. With my hair…well, I already did a post on that. So, we ended up with two ideas for my eyes and practiced one on each eye. The first try was nice, but too dark and dramatic for what I was going for. The second try was right on the money: It popped my eye color, it stood out without overpowering me. It was perfect. I had to take a moment to really look at myself because this was entirely new to me! I wanted to cry (but resisted so we wouldn’t ruin the amazing work).

Overall, my makeup was spot on and my face was glowing in radiance! OH! And she fixed my eyebrows which I think added a whole world of difference! (Insert Hallelujah Here)
makeupIt’s really a day and night difference, right? I was and still am ecstatic with the results!

With my hair, I listened to Tawny and didn’t wash my hair for over 24 hours. I get really observant of my hair when I don’t wash it, but thankfully I had some dry shampoo in my room and tossed it in my bag just in case the oil became too much.

We spent a good hour curling my hair because of how thin my hair was and how much I had. I think that’s when we both began to feel a wee bit tired, haha! But, after curling we tried about 4 to 5 different styles to kind of see where my preference lies. Well, I found one that I will actually wear to my wedding, BUT I don’t want to specify which one…can you guess?
hair 2I can’t wait for my wedding day now, because I just wanted to put on my dress and get married then and there! I wonder if you’ll all guess correctly? We’ll find out when I get married, yeah!?

3 hours later, we were finally ready to call it quits after being pleased with the results! I came home and sent the pictures to my parents and Maid of Honor and so far, all of the reactions have been so positive! I want to wear all of it every day…if possible.
thanksI would love to give a special thanks (again) to Tawny! You listened and looked at my ideas and executed them greatly! The advice, tips, love, and amazing talent were all well received and I can’t wait to see Anthony cry when I walk down that aisle! Muahaha!

If you’d like to learn more about Highlife Makeup & Photography, please hit the contact button above or comment down below!

That’s it for today everyone! This was a blast and I loved every minute of it, but now it’s time for me to chill out and get some rest. I’m thinking some reading, Bob’s Burgers, and my bed are necessary for ultimate relaxation. BUT, I would love to hear what you all thought of today’s post so let me know in the comments below and click the contact button for suggestions on future posts! I hope you all have a fantastic week filled with lots of sun and fun because it’s supposed to rain tomorrow here. And as always…
