Sailor Moon Crystal Reaction & Videos

Well hello there!
Holy crap! I haven’t posted in over a week. I’m so sorry everyone! It’s been ridiculously busy lately and to top everything off…my car decided it needed a tuneup this week, so I had been taking care of that and what not. But hey, I’m a full-time student and a full-time employee now. Whoop. That’s been my life in a nutshell as of late.

P.S. This Post will Feature Spoilers!

SMC Reaction

Anyways, in case you haven’t read my previous Sailor Moon posts or looked at any of my social media accounts…SAILOR MOON CRYSTAL FINALLY PREMIERED and my life has been changed for the better. Two years after the initial announcement and a year’s worth of delay we finally got the reboot we’ve been waiting for on Saturday and yes, my amazing friend and newest member of the STR Crew, Ambrozine, decided we would film our initial reaction! So, you should watch it:

Seeing as how it’s been a few days since the premier, I’ve found myself in a calm position to tell you all why I thought this reboot was fantastic.

First of all, let me take you back to when we had received the artwork teasers.

And I loved it.

There are a lot of people who would beg to differ, but the artwork was gorgeous to me. It was modern and sharp, bright and bold and most of all…it was different. I remember reading the initial announcement regarding the anime and the one thing that stood out the most was that Sailor Moon Crystal was not a remake, but rather a reboot that was meant to stand alone from the original 90’s series. And the artwork reflected just that.

Afterwards, I had nothing but high hopes and expectations.

Next thing you know, July 5th has arrived and the world premier of Sailor Moon Crystal had begun. I’ll admit, I had a minor fear: “What if it’s not as good as I hope?” “What if it is only hype and it turns out to be everything I hated about anime?” But, I managed to keep an open mind, once again reminding myself that this is to stand apart from the original.

And holy crap, it did.

The animation was everything I had seen and much more. The background music was glorious, the opening theme was glorious, the ending theme was glorious. IT WAS ALL JUST SO FREAKIN’ GLORIOUS. I couldn’t contain my excitement for what I was seeing! It really did appear as it had in the manga and all the small details as well such as the star locket or Mamoru’s tuxedo when he and Usagi first meet. The title cards are so ridiculously gorgeous, I want to tattoo all of them to my soul.

The only thing that I was kind of hit me in a weird way was the transformation sequence. I wasn’t sure about the whole CG kind of deal…I mean, it wasn’t bad but I don’t suppose I was expecting it either. I know there are a lot of people who are really upset about it, but it’s just a sequence that will be shortened anyhow. It doesn’t make or break the series. BOOM.

I thought I’d just drop this off here! Our good friend, Roger from Tainted Reality, has recently uploaded two new Sailor Moon videos, but this one is a definite watch for those of us who were SM Fans since the 90’s! So go ahead and give it a watch and his review of SMC Act 1!

So, there you have it! My reaction to the premier of Sailor Moon Crystal. And hey, a new video on the STR YT Channel…can you tell I’m attempting to be productive?? Anyways, I’d really enjoy hearing your thoughts on today’s post or your thoughts/feelings about Sailor Moon Crystal in the comments down below!
