It’s been an incredible and rather busy week to say the least. So much has been happening and I ended up coming down with a sinus infection/cold. Argh, but I am beyond happy. So, Anthony and I made time for a concert date this week to see The Postal Service in Maryland! And let me tell you, it was one of the best concerts I’ve been too. Although we didn’t have relatively close seating, it was still fantastic. And surprisingly, other DC bloggers were there as well! So, here is my OOTD from Tuesday…I tried to keep it simple and warm since it was supposed to be rainy and windy of course. But, it was crazy comfortable too!! In this picture though, I am wearing my house slippers rather than shoes…
Blouse – Dalia Collection
Cardigan – ModCloth
Jeans – Kohl’s
Boots – Payless
Purse – Coach
This outfit ended up being my best friend because we ended up sitting in the rain for close to 2 hours while waiting for the physical venue to open up. I have been addicted to button ups lately though…it’s terrible, but others disagree~! But, I will always cherish this outfit for the sole reason below…
I suppose I should elaborate, Anthony proposed on June 18th at the Merriweather Post Pavillion during the encore at The Postal Service concert. It was really a surprise honestly! I told Anthony that I kept having a dream about being proposed to with loud music in the background. So, we go to Maryland for the concert and have a few hours in between to relax at a nearby mall. Well, Anthony and I stopped at a jewelry store so he could look at “potential earrings” and I just sat there staring at wedding bands, well one of the store employees walks up and decides to humor me by letting me try them on and see what I like. Normally, Anthony would be a little hesitant and not really be involved when it came to jewelry stores. However, today was a tad different. He was writing things down, telling me what he liked, and the sort. I was pleasantly surprised, but didn’t really think too much into it. So we get to the concert and they played my two favorite songs and nothing happened, so I decided it wasn’t the day today and to just enjoy the rest of the concert without feeling too down about it. Well, the encore transition came on with this brilliant lightshow and music and next thing you know, Anthony grabs my hand and starts playing with my ring finger. I thought it was weird, but I was already trying to calm myself down from earlier. And then…he slid the ring onto my finger. And I didn’t even give him a proper answer; I jumped up and hugged him and started crying my eyes out. After I cried a tad bit and calmed down a little bit, he asked “I still haven’t heard your answer yet.” And I was like “YESYESYESYESYESYESYES!!!” This is a unedited close up of the ring. I absolutely love solitaire rings because they show a simple elegance and it’s not too flashy. It’s simple. And that’s what I enjoy most about it. I also like that if I want to later down the road, I could purchase a “jacket” for the ring but for now, I’m just enjoying the ring itself.
As for a date for our wedding, we aren’t really in a rush. We haven’t chosen a date, let alone think of one. Right now, we just want to enjoy the engagement while we can before wedding planning stresses us out and overwhelms us. But we’ve received so much love and support and we just want to thank everyone for their kind words and advice! Calls have been coming in like mad and the texts and facebooking. It’s been crazy. We are so excited to begin a new journey together and we can’t wait to see where the road leads us.
Although, I am finding it difficult to remember that Anthony is now my fiancé. I keep saying “boyfriend” and my girl friends are like “TAYLOR!! He’s your fiancé now!!!!” I guess old habits are hard to break, haha!
With all of that said, I hope you all enjoyed this post! It’s been one year since I bought the SimplyTaylorRae.Com domain and I have treasured each post, day, etc. etc. The amount of support from everyone has been overwhelming because this website is truly my dream.
