Making Healthy Changes

Hello Hello! Ah, what a tiring week it has been. If you don’t live in the Northern Virginia area, then let me tell you about how Mother Nature cannot make up her mind. One week it’s snowing and cold and then the next we end up at 90 degrees. Unfortunately for me, my body doesn’t adjust well when the seasons change. When it’s Autumn to Winter, my eczema flairs up. When it’s Winter to Spring, it’s my allergies. When it’s Spring to Summer, heat exhaustion. So, the sudden change took me by surprise and I originally thought it was a stomach virus or something because I was vomiting and sweating non stop with no sleep whatsoever. But, my dad walked into my room and turns out they forgot to turn the air conditioning on and my room was at 88 degrees with a fan on. In other words, I suffered from dehydration and heat exhaustion. So, I spent the whole day trying to cool down with cold foods, water, and even a cold shower. My body is still recovering, but I am getting there! Anyways, because of my poor health recently, I kind of wanted to do a post about making healthy changes in my life that maybe you could follow as well if you’d like to. Basically, my eating habits and workout routines. LET’S GOOOOOO!19b0c44e-4009-430e-affa-18ff8c2e436f_zps9fbbd71aHonestly, this is a workout I swear by. Back in high school, Dance Dance Revolution was my gym. I’d play for at least 2 hours everyday drinking nothing but water and I ended up losing 50 pounds. If you don’t want to go to a gym or want a fun workout that doesn’t feel like you’re working out, then DDR is one of your best bets. You work up a sweat quick if you go on Difficult setting and it increases your foot-eye coordination…if that makes sense? But I just ordered one of the DDR PS2 games from back in the day, so I am excited to get back into this workout! I’m gonna try and get Anthony to do it as well, maybe we’ll vlog it too?da71e27c-1ec3-4d8b-a52e-9b65e6cf7dc7_zps7eb11968Yes, yes. I am a firm believer in the benefits Green Tea gives us! It is great for our skin, our health, and is also wonderful when trying to lose weight. When sugar and fat enter our body, they turn into triglyceride and form in the liver and small intestine and through the blood stream. Although our body needs triglyceride, it only needs a certain amount, so when it becomes excessive it turns into fat that could lead to obesity. Green tea just so happens to be high in polyphenols which counter the effect excessive triglycerides have in our body and reduce your fat content over time if you drink Green Tea on a regular basis. So, I try to drink green tea at least once a day to make sure that the polyphenols can do their magic!1ee9d3e4-5431-4b7e-8665-2696f19fc1d3_zps6a6cf198I truly believe that the number one cause of weight gain is sugary drinks: sweet tea, soda, sweetened juice, etc. Something I am currently trying to get into the habit of is drinking lemon water or citrus water instead of my true love of sweet tea. (I come from the south, so sweet tea is a staple in most southern diets…) I personally love my lemon water with HOT HOT water or room temperature because I feel like the lemon flavor really enhances with hot water, but if you like it cold, go right ahead! But why is lemon water better? Well first off, NO SUGAR. Plus, it helps to detoxify your body. It also helps your body fight against viruses and unhealthy bacteria. For me, this is a major plus since I tend to get sick easily.d633b797-1732-48f7-a0ad-8d034d6978ac_zps97f09c70Last but not least is by far one of the most important healthy choices you can make. Raw veggies. YES. I SAID RAW!!! I cannot stress how beneficial eating all colors of vegetables is. Each color serves a different purpose in benefitting our body. Eating them raw is important as well. Well, I suppose not all veggies should be eaten without being cooked…like garlic would probably be best cooked. But, veggies like tomatoes, sweet peppers, cucumbers, avocados, salads, and so on are so amazing for your body, your skin, your hair, and your health. So, although I’m already addicted to cucumbers, avocados, and sweet peppers…I do admit I need to eat more raw veggies and salads!!

Alrighty everyone! That’s it for today’s post. I am currently uploading a video on my youtube, SimplyTaylorRae, which is a travel diary from mine and Anthony’s trip to Israel last year since we finally got around to uploading the footage and putting it all together. Unfortunately the videos are in HD and the overall video is over 16 minutes long…so it’s taking forever to upload on youtube. Right now, it says 856 minutes to go. Lord Help Me Please. So, I’ll let you know whenever that is done. If I can tolerate it. But, I hope you all found this post even the slightest bit helpful. Right now, I am currently at a point in my life where I am trying to do what’s best for me in the long run which includes taking care of myself. So, I wanted to share with you all some of the steps I am taking to better myself.
