SimplyMe: Communions & Baptisms & Flowers

Hello Hello!
How have you all been? It’s been such a busy weekend that I ended up forgetting all about my business homework and ended up only typing up my philosophy thesis. But, I do not regret it because this weekend was filled with special moments I got to share with Anthony and his family. And now I am down to my final week this semester and then a wonderful summer vacation where I’m hoping to spend more time in Annandale and DC…and hopefully Busch Gardens because I have never been. ANYWAYS…let’s get this post started.communionSo, the first event of the weekend was Anthony’s oldest niece’s First Communion! Like I said before, this was my first time witnessing such an event and I had not been to a Catholic Mass in so long! Anyways, those who are participating in their first communion go through Catachism classes before the communion event. Once they have completed the classes, they go to their first communion dressed in white like tiny brides or in suits like little grooms. It was beautiful and such a joy to see Anthony’s niece. I almost cried with pride! I’ve seen her grow up within the past three years into a beautiful young lady. Oh gosh, I’m becoming sappy!ootdMoving on, this was my outfit for the First Communion. I almost went with an all black sweater dress with my lemon patterned scarf…but I decided to incorporate a more playful pattern and a light pink since I was celebrating the growth of a young lady!
Top: Ross
Blazer: Forever21
Trousers: Kohl’s
Wedges: Payless
Jewelry: Betsey Johnson
Bag: Coach (Not Shown)
Honestly, the moment I put this outfit together…I fell in love! It was cute and playful, but also elegant and classy. It’s not too busy and for me, that is always a plus. I also love the pants because they aren’t too long for my tiny 5’1 height. They are at a perfect length with no need for hemming! The little things in life…baptismNext up is Anthony’s youngest niece’s baptism! (He’s got three nieces…so far.) It was such a beautiful ceremony, but unfortunately I didn’t get pictures until afterwards since I was getting Anthony’s mom pictures with her camera. But I did get some pictures afterwards while we were still in the church. And the baby was just a tad bit wiggly and a little grumpy during the ceremony, but afterwards she was calm and goofy like always. It’s been amazing watching her grow from just a tiny infant born 9 days after me to her learning to walk and now her baptism! WHY WON’T THE SAPPINESS STOP!? (T^T)/ But we ended up having a party after the service for her and the other niece! It was great talking to Anthony’s family. Every time we meet up, I learn something new and they are always asking about me and so on. It’s something I feel like I really missed out on as a child since most of my family is divided or too far away.bootsWell, that was my busy weekend. Monday, Anthony and I spent most of the day relaxing and catching up on rest. I couldn’t help but take a picture of the flowers on the ground though. It was so beautiful despite the rain…and since the rain has continued into today, I found myself taking another picture.flowersThese flowers are in the blooming process infront of my house and they are so bright and beautiful! I love it when they bloom and they actually last for a while before turning into more leaves. But yes, this has been my weekend! I hope you all enjoyed this post about my busy weekend. I am so excited for summer you guys~! I don’t think you understand. I want to try restaurants and go to places in Virginia/DC that I have never been before! And tell you all about them of course. But I still have my final exams for the semester, so please wish me luck! Anyways, have a great week everyone~! Stay safe, eat well, and always remember to Live. Laugh. Smile 🙂
Thanks for reading~! ❤

Recent Purchase: Polka Dots & Kenneth Cole

Hello darlings~!
Ah!! I’m posting more than once this week…APOCALYPSE EVERYONE! AHHHH. Just kidding, actually I found some time today to get a few things and hang out with the girlfriends. I missed our Starbucks dates where we talk in Japanese about life and vent out frustrations and what not! Unfortunately, we won’t be able to meet up again until June since they are busy with finals and graduation and the sorts. But as I said before, I had the opportunity to find a couple cute items today! Therefore this is another Recent Purchase post!tumblr_mlw6etWJw41qa95aho1_500I have been so addicted to Ross and TJMaxx lately, it’s ridiculous. I have been rebuilding my wardrobe lately because they always have good deals on items I love. So what did I buy during this shopping trip?
Let’s begin with the Polka Dot Sheer Blouse. I walked into Ross with the intentions of finding something to wear for the niece’s first communion tomorrow, but I wasn’t too thrilled with the dress selection and I thought about the dresses I have yet to have worn in my closet, so I went straight to the blouse section. I saw this blouse and fell ridiculously in love with it. It is a hi-low blouse which I also fell in love with. It really works well a pair of jeans or shorts and some wedges or oxfords. It does require a cami underneath though since it’s sheer, but that’s not even an issues honestly. This blouse cost me $12.99 which was a steal in my opinion.
Next up is the Polka Dot Canvas Bag. The moment I stepped into the store, I saw this bag in the corner of my eye and thought to myself “Ok, I’m going to go find what I need first, then I’ll come back and if it is still there…it was destiny.” So, I left to the dress section and what not and got what I need. I returned to the bag section and it was still there, so I took it upon myself to purchase the bag since I adore polka dots and it has a casual vintage feel as well. I took it home for only $14.99 and I am excited for the opportunity to wear it out!
Last up is the Kenneth Cole’s Reaction Women’s Belt. I emphasize the women part because I also got Anthony a Kenneth Cole belt but it was for men…I don’t know, maybe I am just wierd? But, I have been using a belt from WalMart for a while now, but it’s been tearing apart for months. I have getting so irritated with it that I vowed to buy a new everyday belt for myself. Well, I looked at the Calvin Klein belts and they were either too small or too large. Then I looked at the Kenneth Cole belts and I had trouble finding the right size, but I continued searching and found a cute embossed belt for only $12.99. So pumped to have a real working belt!

Alrighty, that’s it for today’s Recent Purchase. I hope you all enjoyed this post and found it informing…in the fact that Ross and TJMaxx are awesome places to shop for freakin’ great deals. It was a relatively quick post today but either Sunday or Tuesday I will have a post on the festivities of this weekend. With that said, I hope you all have an amazing and fun weekend! Stay safe, enjoy yourself, and always remember to Live. Laugh. Smile 🙂

Geeky Fashion Finds

Hello lovelies! It has been such a long week…I have been getting sick a lot lately, so I’ve been trying to drink more lemon water and what not. But the semester is coming to a close which means that soon, I will be able to dedicate more time to you all and producing more posts and figuring out why Youtube takes so long to upload my videos. Ah, the excitement.
Moving on…this week I actually decided to do a fashion find post on something I take quite seriously: BEING A GEEK. Yes, geeky fashion finds for all of you who enjoy comics, gaming, technology, and the sort. I have been trying to find fashionable ways to express my love for video games and comics. And these next pieces are what I’ve found in quest! So, let’s start!e09329b3-6ac7-404c-a361-34c9c37663cc_zps4f498fa9To begin with, everyone may find their definiton of geeky to be different from mine. For me, I define geeky as being overly obsessed with technology, video games, comics, fandoms, tv shows, anime, and etc. So, everything I post further on will pretty much retain to those subjects…OKAY DOKAY!

870035dc-4997-485f-9eeb-bc1949ae52b3_zpsd99b44baLet me tell you about this beauty here. I have always been fascinated with comic inspired pop art and while glancing through ModCloth, I came across this beautiful t-shirt: ModCloth’s Venue in Vaduz Tee. The t-shirt is only $29.99 which seems to me like a steal because I have trouble finding really cute pop art shirts especially with this much detail. I love the boldness of the lips and the traditional polka dot detail to the hair and lashes. It’s definitely a piece I want in my wardrobe.

999c810b-63ce-47a0-926e-998bae0ff1a7_zps05fc29a2I don’t know about you all, but I grew up on Star Wars (and Star Trek, but let’s not start that argument…). So, you can imagine the excitement I felt when I found this freakin’ awesome t-shirt. NerdyShirts’ Admiral Ackbar’s It’s a Trap t-shirt features our favorite admiral with his most famous phrase “IT’S A TRAP!” I swear before Summer starts I WILL BUY THIS SHIRT. It’s pretty cheap for the price of $19.99 and guess what? NerdyShirts lets you choose what gender the shirt is for, so it is available for both men and women. I highly suggest this shirt for all you fellow Star Wars nerds.

2dkDPgXppfQ56rVkkHBk_400LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THIS AWESOME COMPANY. The company is called BoldLoft and they have a cute couples brand called “Love A Lot.” They do everything from couples mugs, t-shirts, to even pillowcases. The one above is BoldLoft’s Capture by Your Love His & Hers Pillowcases and goes for $36.00 and they even comes as t-shirts! They have other cute motifs such as Super Mario, Batman, and so on! I have ordered from BoldLoft before and they have never disappointed me. Infact, everytime I order…my purchase comes in WAY before they expected delivery date and the products are definitely high quality. The pillowcases I got me and Anthony are still in FANTASTIC condition even after 2 years. So, this is definitely a recommend.

5047ea54-37cb-4b0f-b49b-bbbab210f24a_zpsf59a95b6This is an item where I just about died of cuteness. So, with all the Sailor Moon hype that’s been going on this year…I’ve been kind of missing CardCaptor Sakura. Like, I grew up on both shows but I’ve been buying the Sailor Moon manga since they rarely have CCS manga nowadays. But StarlightDecoDream’s CCS Clow Star Key Inspired Acrylic Necklace seems like the perfect item to bring back all of the magical moments I spent as a kid for about $32.00. I actually saw someone with this necklace on Tumblr and I immediately went to the source and fell in love with StarlightDecoDream’s entire Etsy store…because she has both CCS and Sailor Moon inspired necklaces. Talk about a DREAM COME TRUE. (Just for the record, I found out the original episodes of CCS in Japanese are indeed on YouTube…guess who’s not sleeping tonight?)

Alrighty everyone! I hope you all enjoyed this post. I will surely do a part 2 once I come across some more awesome finds for you all, but I didn’t want to overload you all quite yet! If you have any suggestions on characters, shows, video games, and the sort – please feel free to comment!! Just as a disclaimer though; none of the companys or store owners contacted me or sponsored this post whatsoever.
Anyways, I am going to be crazy busy this weekend, but I am hoping I can post some pictures because of everything that will be happening:
Tomorrow is Anthony’s Birthday
I am preparing for final exams and a 5-page paper
Saturday is Anthony’s Oldest Niece’s First Communion
Sunday is Anthony’s Youngest Niece’s Baptism
Like I said, it will be plenty busy. But, I am excited because I get to dress up a lot so I am far from complaining! I may do a post dedicated on all the craziness that will be happening. With all that said, I hope you all have an amazing rest of your week. Be safe and Take Care and always remember to Live. Laugh. Smile 🙂

Making Healthy Changes

Hello Hello! Ah, what a tiring week it has been. If you don’t live in the Northern Virginia area, then let me tell you about how Mother Nature cannot make up her mind. One week it’s snowing and cold and then the next we end up at 90 degrees. Unfortunately for me, my body doesn’t adjust well when the seasons change. When it’s Autumn to Winter, my eczema flairs up. When it’s Winter to Spring, it’s my allergies. When it’s Spring to Summer, heat exhaustion. So, the sudden change took me by surprise and I originally thought it was a stomach virus or something because I was vomiting and sweating non stop with no sleep whatsoever. But, my dad walked into my room and turns out they forgot to turn the air conditioning on and my room was at 88 degrees with a fan on. In other words, I suffered from dehydration and heat exhaustion. So, I spent the whole day trying to cool down with cold foods, water, and even a cold shower. My body is still recovering, but I am getting there! Anyways, because of my poor health recently, I kind of wanted to do a post about making healthy changes in my life that maybe you could follow as well if you’d like to. Basically, my eating habits and workout routines. LET’S GOOOOOO!19b0c44e-4009-430e-affa-18ff8c2e436f_zps9fbbd71aHonestly, this is a workout I swear by. Back in high school, Dance Dance Revolution was my gym. I’d play for at least 2 hours everyday drinking nothing but water and I ended up losing 50 pounds. If you don’t want to go to a gym or want a fun workout that doesn’t feel like you’re working out, then DDR is one of your best bets. You work up a sweat quick if you go on Difficult setting and it increases your foot-eye coordination…if that makes sense? But I just ordered one of the DDR PS2 games from back in the day, so I am excited to get back into this workout! I’m gonna try and get Anthony to do it as well, maybe we’ll vlog it too?da71e27c-1ec3-4d8b-a52e-9b65e6cf7dc7_zps7eb11968Yes, yes. I am a firm believer in the benefits Green Tea gives us! It is great for our skin, our health, and is also wonderful when trying to lose weight. When sugar and fat enter our body, they turn into triglyceride and form in the liver and small intestine and through the blood stream. Although our body needs triglyceride, it only needs a certain amount, so when it becomes excessive it turns into fat that could lead to obesity. Green tea just so happens to be high in polyphenols which counter the effect excessive triglycerides have in our body and reduce your fat content over time if you drink Green Tea on a regular basis. So, I try to drink green tea at least once a day to make sure that the polyphenols can do their magic!1ee9d3e4-5431-4b7e-8665-2696f19fc1d3_zps6a6cf198I truly believe that the number one cause of weight gain is sugary drinks: sweet tea, soda, sweetened juice, etc. Something I am currently trying to get into the habit of is drinking lemon water or citrus water instead of my true love of sweet tea. (I come from the south, so sweet tea is a staple in most southern diets…) I personally love my lemon water with HOT HOT water or room temperature because I feel like the lemon flavor really enhances with hot water, but if you like it cold, go right ahead! But why is lemon water better? Well first off, NO SUGAR. Plus, it helps to detoxify your body. It also helps your body fight against viruses and unhealthy bacteria. For me, this is a major plus since I tend to get sick easily.d633b797-1732-48f7-a0ad-8d034d6978ac_zps97f09c70Last but not least is by far one of the most important healthy choices you can make. Raw veggies. YES. I SAID RAW!!! I cannot stress how beneficial eating all colors of vegetables is. Each color serves a different purpose in benefitting our body. Eating them raw is important as well. Well, I suppose not all veggies should be eaten without being cooked…like garlic would probably be best cooked. But, veggies like tomatoes, sweet peppers, cucumbers, avocados, salads, and so on are so amazing for your body, your skin, your hair, and your health. So, although I’m already addicted to cucumbers, avocados, and sweet peppers…I do admit I need to eat more raw veggies and salads!!

Alrighty everyone! That’s it for today’s post. I am currently uploading a video on my youtube, SimplyTaylorRae, which is a travel diary from mine and Anthony’s trip to Israel last year since we finally got around to uploading the footage and putting it all together. Unfortunately the videos are in HD and the overall video is over 16 minutes long…so it’s taking forever to upload on youtube. Right now, it says 856 minutes to go. Lord Help Me Please. So, I’ll let you know whenever that is done. If I can tolerate it. But, I hope you all found this post even the slightest bit helpful. Right now, I am currently at a point in my life where I am trying to do what’s best for me in the long run which includes taking care of myself. So, I wanted to share with you all some of the steps I am taking to better myself.

If you found this post helpful or would like to request an idea or topic for a future post, please feel free to contact me at the “contact” button or you can also comment below. Like I said before, I hope you all enjoyed this post and I hope you all have an amazing weekend! Please be safe, be happy, and be healthy and always remember to Live. Laugh. Smile.

Recent Purchase: Jessica Simpson Luggage

Hello lovelies! How is your week going? Did you have a good Easter holiday? How about Spring Break? I hope all is well!! For those who are wondering, my Easter was a bit busy. The morning was spent with my family and we had a lovely ham and breakfast brunch. Then I had to head to work. Too bad Easter isn’t a federal holiday. (Gov’t Job Problems…) But afterwards, Anthony’s family invited me to a BBQ and even saved me some food. So, it turned out to be a wonderful get together! Anyways, I have recently been shopping a lot in prep for Spring and Anthony’s birthday. So, we ended up stopping by at TJMaxx where I got him a few things and then we ended up at Ross…and that’s where this post begins.tumblr_mklsgkF9E81qa95aho1_500So, we end up at Ross and while we’re looking around, I noticed a cute navy polka dot bag in the corner of my eye. So, I walked over and took a look and noticed it was a piece from Jessica Simpson’s luggage collection. Anthony came by and took a look and then noticed that the whole collection was in the store. And, you can guess what happened next. After 20 minutes of talking, price comparing, and all that jazz…I ended up purchasing 3 pieces of luggage that I can use for my travels since Anthony and I have pretty big plans to travel the world. I guess you can say I took the first step. 😉 But, my biggest thing was how much I got all of it for. Only $175 for all three pieces. I got the largest suitcase for $75 (original tag says $360), the medium suitcase for $65 (original tag says $320), and the large tote for $25 (original tag says $140).
I cannot believe what a deal I got. I was always told that luggage was ridiculously expensive and so I never even thought about buying my own luggage. But Anthony reminded me that we had a lot of traveling plans in our future and that I should just take hold of this deal…so I did and I am beyond thrilled. I will probably use the tote bag for more than travel because it is freakin’ adorable and has a cute vintage feel to it that caught my eye. So, if you have a Ross store near you, I would highly suggest you check it out for this luggage set because it is truly adorable and affordable.

Well, that’s it for today’s post! I hope you enjoyed this new segment I added to the blog. It’s like a “haul” but specified on one item. I will leave the hauls for the videos. Speaking of videos, I’m hoping to have a collab video with two of my best friends up by Friday since we are filming Thursday evening. Also, my summer vacation is coming up in May so I hope and pray for more time to dedicate to filming and posting. With all of that said, I hope you all have an amazing rest of the week! Remember to follow me on Twitter @TaylorRae319 for blog updates and a whole bunch of other randomness. Take great care everyone and always remember to Live, Laugh, and Smile!
